Just a little blog where I take videos, photos, and news/info for all bands and artists in rock, alt rock, metal, alt metal, heavy metal, screamo/emo rock and metal, punk rock, and some in between genres and I bring them all together in a giant electrical mash up I call the Live Wire.
I know it's a day early but, the best way to treat your valentine...is with a bullet (not literally of course, please no guns) Allow Bullet for My Valentine to show your ears some lovin' :)
Although the songs are number one on the charts at the moment, they certainly made a statement when they were released.
First off I added Helena by My Chemical Romance because I've always loved that song. It's dark, it's dreary, it's melodic, and it's loud.
Next is Bullet by Hollywood Undead. A very dark topic made light and bouncy (best words I could find). Basically it's a song about killing yourself put to a very light and happy tune. Strange really but it's catchy.
If you like songs about heartache, breakups, true love, and all that other shit people throw into music then look no further. Mayday Parade is probably the greatest band for your taste. It is impossible not to like at least one song by them, I swear. My first favorite song by them was Still Breathing, and to this day it's definitely top 3. My other two are When You See My Friends and Oh Well, Oh Well. You'll like Mayday Parade if you like Paramore, Hawthorne Heights, Saosin, and/or Taking Back Sunday.
A little background on the song topics to get an idea of the band: Still Breathing is about a breakup. But even after all the shit he went through he's "still breathing". It's an empowering song whether you're going through a break up or just a shitty time of your life. When You See My Friends is about a girl who wants to commit suicide. The opening lyrics are, "I'm burned out like a bright light, I wasn't ready for this. You're adorable as hell, but I'm glancing at your wrist. Oh please have faith, I can be so cavalier. And when they start to ask questions I'll make sure to be clear"
It's a very sad song but it's something that kind of hits home with a lot people especially those who turn to music for help. great song though.
Oh Well Oh Well is about a guy and girl who break up but he's angry yet he still wants to be friends. I guess I really like it because it starts off kind of fun with some acoustic guitar and then all of a sudden the whole band breaks out. Love it :)
